John A. Levy was born in New York in 1925. In Rye his family lived at 252 Greenhaven Rd. John enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

John Albert Levy, of Bloomfield, beloved husband of the late Sylvia Horowitz Levy, died peacefully Wednesday, (September 16, 2009) at Hartford Hospital.

He was born January 30, 1925 in New York, son of the late Aaron and Mildred Levy. John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. and Meredith Levy, of Scottsdale, AZ; his daughter and son-in-law, Felicia M. and Robert Lieberman of Tallwoods Village, NSW Australia; a sister, Susan Perlman of New York City; his grandchildren, Kimberly Randle, Christopher Lieberman and Sarah Levy; a sister-in-law, Ellin Bloch of Pasadena, California and two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 10:30 a.m. at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury. The burial will be follow at the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation Emek Shalom Memorial Park in Avon. The family will be home for visitation on Tuesday, September 22 from Noon-5 p.m. In honor of his memory, donations may be made to the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving (memo line John Levy), 10 Columbus Boulevard, 8th Floor, Hartford, CT 06106.
